Koforidua Appeal Court Orders Substituted Service On Peter Amewu

In a significant development, the Koforidua Court of Appeal has ordered substituted service on John Peter Amewu, the former Member of Parliament for Hohoe, in a case challenging the validity of his election.

The court’s decision was made after multiple attempts to serve Peter Amewu with the court processes failed.

The case, which was filed by five residents from Santrokofi, Akpafu, Lolobi, and Likpe (SALL), seeks to nullify the parliamentary election held on December 7, 2020, which Peter Amewu won.

The petitioners argue that their exclusion from the election process was unjust.

In July 2024, the Ho High Court dismissed the petition on the grounds of lacking jurisdiction.

However, the petitioners appealed the decision, leading to the current case at the Koforidua Court of Appeal.

The court has ordered that the court processes be posted on the notice boards of the Koforidua Court of Appeal, Hohoe High Court, Ho High Court, and on the gates of Amewu’s residence in Hohoe.

The appeal has been set for hearing on March 19, 2025.

This development highlights the controversy surrounding Amewu’s election and the determination of the petitioners to seek justice.

Background of the Case

The petitioners, who are residents of SALL, filed the case challenging the validity of Amewu’s election.

They argued that their exclusion from the election process was unjust and sought to nullify the election.
