Veteran Ghanaian highlife musician Kwaisey Pee, known in private life as Akwasi Poku Addae, has honoured a pledge he made to support children battling cancer by donating GH¢50,000 to the Paediatric Oncology Unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
The donation follows a commitment the celebrated musician made ahead of his 25th anniversary concert, which was held last year at the D’ Icon Event Centre at East Legon.

At the time, Kwaisey Pee indicated that part of the proceeds and activities surrounding the milestone celebration would go toward supporting children undergoing cancer treatment.
True to his word, the highlife icon recently presented the amount to the hospital’s Paediatric Oncology Unit, a facility dedicated to treating children diagnosed with various forms of cancer. The gesture forms part of his personal initiative to contribute to healthcare support for vulnerable children in Ghana.
The musician explained that children hold a special place in his heart, and he believes that supporting those battling life-threatening illnesses is a responsibility that society must collectively embrace.
According to him, cancer treatment, particularly for children, comes with significant financial challenges for families.
He therefore expressed hope that the contribution would help ease some of the burdens faced by parents whose children are receiving treatment at the facility.
Kwaisey Pee also indicated that the donation would not be a one-time gesture, revealing plans to make similar contributions in the future as part of a continuous effort to support children suffering from cancer.
