A 35-year-old man, Mohammed Abudi, has been sentenced to seven years in prison by the Wa Circuit Court for defiling a 13-year-old girl in the Guli community, located in the Wa Municipality of the Upper West Region.
The incident occurred on Friday, April 11, 2025.
According to the Upper West Regional Police Command, swift and proactive policing led to Abudi’s arrest just two days later, on Sunday, April 13.
Following a police investigation, the case was processed and brought before the court in Wa.
During proceedings at the Wa Circuit Court, presided over by Jonathan Avoogo, Abudi pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement.
On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, the court convicted and sentenced him to seven years imprisonment.
The Ghana Police Service’s Upper West Regional Command emphasized that this case demonstrates its commitment to pursuing justice for victims of sexual violence.
In a statement issued by ASP Michael Toya of the Public Affairs Directorate, the command warned potential offenders to desist from such criminal acts or face the full force of the law.
