NIB Invites 2 MPs, A Plus, Mustapha Yussif

The National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) has invited two Members of Parliament, Mustapha Yussif and Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as Kwame A Plus, for investigations.

This invitation comes after the NIB requested the release of the two MPs from parliamentary duties to assist in the investigation.

According to a letter signed by Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, Clerk to Parliament, the Speaker of Parliament has agreed to the NIB’s request, citing the limitations of Articles 117 and 118 of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic, existing protocols with security and intelligence agencies, and public interest.

The letter states, “Parliament, in principle, agrees to the request in the above matter”.

The two MPs are expected to make themselves available for a preliminary interaction with NIB officials in Parliament on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 10:00 am.

The meeting will take place at the Sir Emmanuel Charles Quist Conference Room, Office of the Speaker.

The MPs have been advised to have their lawyers present during the interaction.

This development is not the first time the NIB has invited individuals for investigations but possibly the first in recent times concerning the interrogation of MPs.
Recently, the NIB invited Kwame Baffoe Abronye to assist in investigations regarding allegations he made against President John Dramani Mahama.

The NIB has also launched a manhunt for Gifty Oware-Mensah, the former Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Authority.

The invitation of the two MPs for investigations has sparked interest in the political landscape.
