The National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Stephen Ayesu Ntim, has taken a temporary break from the party’s ongoing nationwide “Thank You” tour to address what party officials described as “pressing matters.
The announcement was made in a press release issued by the party’s Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, on May 1, 2025.
According to the statement, the Chairman’s absence from the tour is brief and does not affect his commitment to engaging with the party’s grassroots and regional leadership across the country. The NPP leadership assured party members and the general public that Ntim would resume his duties on the tour shortly.
“The New Patriotic Party wishes to inform all members and the public that the National Chairman has taken a short break from the ongoing nationwide ‘Thank You’ tour to attend to some pressing matters,” the statement read.
Ahiagbah further emphasized that the Chairman “remains fully committed to the tour and will rejoin the team in due course,” adding that the party appreciates the continued support, enthusiasm, and cooperation of all its members.
The NPP’s “Thank You” tour was launched in April as a strategic move by the party’s national executives to express gratitude to supporters following the unsuccessful bid by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia the party’s flagbearer for the 2024 presidential election.
Chairman Ntim, who has been leading the campaign for party unity and mobilization, had already visited several regions before this temporary break.
Nonetheless, party officials insist that the tour is progressing as planned and that other senior executives are continuing engagements in the Chairman’s absence.
The NPP has not disclosed the nature of the “pressing matters” requiring Ntim’s attention.
The release concluded with a note of appreciation: “The Party appreciates all members’ continued support, enthusiasm, unwavering commitment, and cooperation.”
