NPP Unveils Theme For 2025 Delegates Conference, Emphasizes Return To Core Values

By Daniel Bampoe

A New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially unveiled the theme for its 2025 National Delegates Conference, with a resounding call for unity, a recommitment to traditional values, and a renewed focus on core party principles.

The theme, announced by the party’s Communications Director Richard Ahiagbah at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, is “Rebuilding Together with Our Values.”

Slated for Saturday, the conference is expected to bring together party stalwarts, grassroots members, national executives, and key stakeholders from across the country.

The theme, according to Ahiagbah, reflects the party’s urgent need to reconnect with its ideological roots and reestablish the principles that have historically distinguished the NPP from its political rivals.

A Call to Rebuild with Principles

Addressing the media, Ahiagbah described the theme as “poignant and reflective,” highlighting the NPP’s intention to realign with its founding values—rule of law, individual liberty, private enterprise, limited government, and the preservation of cultural and traditional norms.

“We cannot do or achieve anything meaningful without adherence to principles and values,” he stressed.

“The New Patriotic Party has always been the party of choice for Ghanaians because of our rich history and the principles that guided our forebears.”

He drew attention to the legacy of the NPP’s resistance to authoritarianism during the PNDC era, emphasizing the party’s historical role in ushering in Ghana’s Fourth Republic.

“Our forebears stood firm against tyranny and championed democracy. That’s the spirit we must reignite,” Ahiagbah stated, referencing the party’s foundational struggle against military dictatorship in the 1980s and early 1990s.

Values Over Politics

Ahiagbah reminded Ghanaians that the NPP has always prioritized the sanctity of individual rights and the power of private enterprise as key drivers of national development.

He lamented the discontinuation of the “One District, One Factory” (1D1F) initiative by the current administration under President John Mahama, describing it as a setback to Ghana’s industrialization agenda.

“The 1D1F created over 160,000 jobs and represented a bold step towards economic independence. Replacing such a robust initiative with an ill-defined 24-hour economy programme is not the way forward,” he argued.

Defending Culture and Identity

On the subject of cultural preservation, Ahiagbah reaffirmed the party’s stance against the legalization or promotion of LGBTQ+ activities, calling the NPP a “conservative party” rooted in Ghana’s cultural identity.

He accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of being inconsistent on the issue.

“They pretended to oppose it, but in office, they did nothing to engage the public or clarify their position,” he said. “We are clear—we stand with the Ghanaian people and our values.”

Limited Government and Feedback from Citizens

Addressing criticism about the size of the previous NPP administration, Ahiagbah acknowledged concerns and pledged that the party is committed to its foundational belief in limited government.

“We hear the people. And this theme is our response to that feedback. We’re taking steps to correct course and remain faithful to the values that built our party,” he stated.

A Message to the Party’s Base

The Communications Director also issued a rallying call to party members to unite and collaborate in the spirit of the theme. Quoting American industrialist Henry Ford, Ahiagbah said: “If everyone moves forward together, success takes care of itself.”

He stressed that the conference is not merely a routine political gathering but a pivotal moment for internal reflection and strategic direction.

“This theme is a reminder to ourselves and a message to Ghanaians that we’re listening, and we are ready to chart a new course—grounded in values, unity, and purpose,” he concluded.

Background to the Conference

The NPP’s annual National Delegates Conference is a constitutional event under Article 10 of the party’s constitution.

It serves as a forum for reviewing party structures, discussing policy directions, and passing resolutions on pressing national issues.

This year’s edition comes amid growing public disillusionment with the political class and internal party debates about leadership, governance, and ideological consistency.
