Former Managing Director of Ghana Post and parliamentary aspirant for the Asante Akyem South Constituency, Bice Osei Kuffour popularly called Obuor, has formally congratulated Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the recently elected presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), following his emphatic victory in the party’s presidential primary.
Obour delivered the message of goodwill during a courtesy visit to Dr. Bawumia’s private residence over the weekend, where he described the primary outcome as a clear reflection of the will and confidence of party delegates across the country.
According to him, the scale and decisiveness of Dr. Bawumia’s victory, especially considering the political stature and influence of the candidates he contested against, demonstrated the strong internal endorsement of his leadership and vision for the party.
He noted that the outcome of the primary mirrors the broader mood within the NPP, stressing that the delegates’ verdict signals a party ready to reorganise, reunite, and reposition itself for the 2028 general elections.
Obour argued that if the party closes its internal ranks and consolidates its structures, the NPP would be well placed to reclaim political power, adding that Dr. Bawumia’s temperament, inclusive leadership style, and conciliatory approach provide the foundation for genuine party unity.
Expressing confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, Obour stated that the former Vice President possesses the capacity to unite all factions within the party and transform the NPP into a formidable electoral force capable of confronting the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2028.
He called on all candidates who contested the primary against Dr. Bawumia to respond positively to the olive branch extended to them, urging them to place party interest above personal ambition in the collective quest to return the NPP to power.
Beyond internal party politics, Obour framed the 2028 election as a national mission, linking the NPP’s campaign to the everyday struggles of ordinary Ghanaians. He highlighted the difficult economic conditions facing citizens, referencing challenges confronting cocoa farmers, rising electricity and water tariffs, and the widening gap between public expectations and living conditions.
According to him, the party’s return to government must be anchored on restoring hope, dignity, and economic relief to Ghanaians. Obuor was the campaign coordinator for Dr Bawumia in the Asante Akyem enclave in the Ashanti region.
He pledged his “undiluted loyalty and full support” to Dr. Bawumia’s presidential campaign, committing himself to active grassroots mobilisation and political engagement within his constituency and beyond, in alignment with the broader campaign strategy of the party.
Obour said he would work to carry the campaign’s message of hope to the people of Asante Akyem South and across the Ashanti Region.
On behalf of the leadership and members of the Asante Akyem South campaign team, Obour also extended collective congratulations to Dr. Bawumia. He acknowledged the efforts of key party figures and grassroots leaders who worked on the campaign, including constituency executives, former municipal officials, members of the Nasara wing, and party patrons who contributed to the primary victory.
He further expressed gratitude to Dr. Bawumia for the confidence reposed in him to serve as a coordinator for the Asante Akyem Zone, a role he executed alongside Members of Parliament from neighbouring constituencies. According to him, the success of the campaign in the zone, which saw Dr. Bawumia secure victories across all the Asante Akyem constituencies and Bosome Freho, stands as evidence of effective coordination, grassroots mobilisation, and strategic organisation.
