Oda MP’s Aide Dies In Fatal Crash During NPP Polling Station Election Monitoring

A tragic road accident on the Oda to Oda Nkwanta stretch in the Eastern Region has claimed the life of an aide to the Member of Parliament for Akyem Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, while three other persons remain in critical condition receiving treatment at the hospital.

The deceased, identified as Kofi Nti, was reportedly serving as a personal aide to the Akyem Oda MP and was travelling with others in a New Patriotic Party (NPP) pickup vehicle during monitoring activities connected to the party’s ongoing polling station elections.

According to preliminary information gathered, the incident occurred at Oda Nkwanta following a head-on collision involving two vehicles.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the impact of the crash was severe, leaving the victims trapped and badly injured before emergency responders and residents rushed to the scene to assist.

Kofi Nti was pronounced dead following the accident, while three other occupants, including the driver of the NPP pickup vehicle, sustained critical injuries and were rushed to hospital for emergency medical treatment.

The victims were reportedly moving around various polling centres in the constituency to observe and monitor the conduct of the NPP polling station elections when the unfortunate incident occurred.

The death of the MP’s aide has thrown the Akyem Oda constituency and sections of the New Patriotic Party into mourning, with party supporters, friends, and sympathisers expressing shock and sadness over the sudden loss.

Several condolence messages have since poured in for the family of the deceased, particularly his wife and children, as well as for the Member of Parliament and the constituency executives.
