Dear Prof. Frimpong-Boateng
I must admit at the outset that you are a brilliant academic and a distinguished cardiothoracic surgeon whose achievements in medicine have brought honour to Ghana. Your intellectual pedigree and professional accomplishments are not in question. However, your performance in politics is very bad and disastrous.
It is impossible to ignore the clear pattern that has defined your relationship with the New Patriotic Party in past years. Your sustained public attacks on the NPP did not arise during your years in office, nor at the height of your influence.
They began only after you were not appointed as a minister in President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s second term. From that point onward, your posture shifted decisively from insider to agitator, from party elder to bitter critic. This context matters, because motives matter in politics.
Prof., ministerial appointment is not a birthright. It is neither an entitlement nor a pension plan for past service. The Constitution of the Republic of Ghana vests appointment power in the President, exercised at his discretion and guided by political strategy, performance, trust, and the broader national interest.
President Akufo-Addo committed no moral or constitutional crime by choosing not to reappoint you. Disappointment is understandable; transforming that disappointment into a prolonged campaign of hostility against your own party is not. It shows how bitter and parochial you are.
Frimpong-Boateng, prior to the party coming to power, you were not the only person who worked. Others worked and did even more than you, yet were not given anything, let alone a ministerial appointment. So why do you feel entitled?
You were lucky to get a ministerial appointment and even to sustain it for four years despite the numerous failures and scandals. You should be grateful to Akufo-Addo, not hate him to this extent.
While you, Frimpong-Boateng, were given oversight responsibility to fight galamsey, your own son, Jojo Frimpong-Boateng, was busy operating galamsey with seized excavators. In fact, you enabled your son to operate galamsey. Where are the excavators you seized?
A minister seized excavators only to later tell us that those excavators had gone missing. Do excavators have legs? With this abysmal performance, corruption, and greed you exhibited, youmc were still expecting to be given another appointment. That would have meant Akufo-Addo was not serious.
When you were given the responsibility to fight galamsey, you did not only lose the fight, but you also saw it as an avenue to amass wealth. So I wonder on what moral grounds you stand to say the NPP is fake today, when you, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, are a walking contradiction of corruption and fakery. The only time Prof. Frimpong Boateng started seeing the NPP as fake was when he was not reappointed as a minister.
The NPP as a party is at rebuilding and healing process. If you can’t help anything meaningful, stay away with your distrustful comments. You are not a New Frimpong-Boateng; we know you, who preach virtues and practice vices.
These are the ungrateful people Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo allowed to soil his legacy. In any serious country, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng would have been in jail.
