Nottingham Forest has parted ways with manager Ange Postecoglou, just 39 days after his appointment.
The decision was made public shortly after the team’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea at the City Ground on Saturday.
Postecoglou’s tenure was marked by a string of disappointing results, including six defeats in eight matches across all competitions.
Appointment
Postecoglou was appointed as the replacement for Nuno Espírito Santo, who was sacked earlier in the season amidst reported tensions with the club’s owner, Evangelos Marinakis.
Despite his success with Tottenham Hotspur, where he won the Europa League, Postecoglou struggled to replicate the same form with Forest,
Disappointing Results
Under Postecoglou’s leadership, Forest played eight matches, losing six and drawing two.
The team’s performance was marred by defensive lapses, including 11 goals conceded from set pieces, twice as many as any other Premier League club during the same period.
Forest’s struggles have left them precariously close to the relegation zone, sparking concerns about their Premier League status.
Reaction And Legacy
The decision to sack Postecoglou was swift, with the club announcing his departure just 19 minutes after the final whistle.
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis reportedly left his seat during the second half of the match, suggesting he had already made up his mind about Postecoglou’s future.
