Probe Daddy Lumba’s Death- Wife, Sister

The family of Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has called for a full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death in Accra in July 2025.

The widow, Akosua Serwah Fosuh, and his elder sister, Ernestina Fosuh, have petitioned both Ghanaian and German authorities to uncover what they describe as “conflicting and disturbing” accounts of how the 60-year-old musician passed away.

Daddy Lumba, who had battled an undisclosed illness for nearly two decades, reportedly died on July 26, 2025, after being hospitalized at The Bank Hospital in Accra.

However, his family contends that the narratives surrounding his final moments are inconsistent and demand clarity from all those involved.

Conflicting Accounts of Lumba’s Final Hour

According to a family press statement released on October 13, 2025, three separate accounts have emerged regarding the cause and location of the late musician’s death.

In the first account, an eyewitness claimed that on the night of the incident, Lumba had called a friend to visit him.

Upon arriving at his residence, the friend was allegedly denied entry by a woman who lived with the singer. After waiting for nearly two hours, the friend left, only to receive a call shortly after informing him that Lumba had died at home.

The second version, contained in a police report submitted to the Coroner at the District Magistrate Court in Accra, stated that the musician, a known diabetic, had complained of leg and waist pains on July 24, 2025.

He was taken to the Sunshine Diagnostic Centre for an MRI scan, where, due to agitation, he was sedated.

After the procedure, he reportedly experienced severe pain and was transferred to The Bank Hospital, where he passed away two days later.

However, a third account—attributed to Priscilla O., a woman believed to have been close to the deceased—differs markedly.

During an initial family meeting, she claimed that Lumba died at the hospital after being administered an injection that caused him severe pain.

Yet, when questioned again the next day by a family member, she changed her story, alleging that he had actually died at home, and that she had cleaned and dressed his body before calling another acquaintance, identified as Serwaa A., to help transport the body to the hospital.

Since then, Priscilla has allegedly refused to cooperate further with the family, deepening suspicion about the true circumstances of Lumba’s death.

Family Demands Investigation and Police Action

Disturbed by these contradictions, the family says they are demanding a transparent and independent inquiry into the matter.

Through their lawyers and representatives, they have reached out to the German Embassy in Accra, the Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt – BKA) in Wiesbaden, and the German Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt) in Berlin for assistance, given that the late musician was a German citizen of Ghanaian origin.

The family has also urged the Ghana Police Service’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to question Priscilla O. and Philip Kwabena A., popularly known as Roman Fada, to assist with the investigation.

In the statement signed by the Family Secretary on behalf of the widow and sister, the family emphasized that they have already submitted all relevant medical documents, official correspondence, and funeral home confirmations to both Ghanaian and German authorities to support their appeal.

Family’s Statement of Grief and Call for Justice

“We, the family of the late Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, loved him dearly and are devastated by the unclear and conflicting reports surrounding his death.”

“We have confidence that both the German and Ghanaian authorities will work together to uncover the truth, ensure justice, and bring transparency to this painful situation,” the statement read.

The widow, Akosua Serwah Fosuh, in a separate social media appeal, questioned the role of individuals close to her late husband—specifically mentioning a woman known as ‘Odo Broni’—and called on the Ghana Police to investigate her over Lumba’s death.
