Queen Nandi’s Latest Videos Deepen Mystery Surrounding King Atehene’s Rehab And ‘Matanga Oracle’

BY GRACE ZIGAH

Queen Nandi, the wife of King Atehene of the self-styled Kubala Kingdom, has reignited public discussion surrounding her husband’s rehabilitation after releasing videos showing an unfinished forest structure she identified as the “Matanga Oracle” and making a striking declaration about her own identity.

The latest developments have added another layer to an already controversial situation involving the Kubala Kingdom, King Atehene’s absence from public view and Queen Nandi’s persistent claim that her husband was taken to a rehabilitation facility against his will.

In a video that surfaced on social media on Monday, August 17, Queen Nandi showed what appeared to be a partially completed structure located in a heavily forested area in Sunyani.

The structure, made largely from reddish clay or mud, was surrounded by dense vegetation, palm trees and wooden support poles.

According to the description accompanying the footage, the structure was being developed by King Atehene and was nearly completed before he was taken to a rehabilitation centre.

Queen Nandi identified the structure as the “Matanga Oracle”, presenting it as part of her husband’s spiritual activities. The footage has since generated questions about the purpose of the structure and the nature of the activities that were taking place there.

However, the circumstances surrounding Atehene’s rehabilitation remain disputed.

Queen Nandi has consistently rejected the account that her husband voluntarily entered rehabilitation. Instead, she has alleged that the monarch was kidnapped and taken to the facility.

The claims have not been independently established in the material available, and there was no official response from authorities or the rehabilitation facility addressing her allegations at the time the video emerged.

The controversy surrounding Atehene and his wife has also been fuelled by Queen Nandi’s increasingly unusual public appearances and statements.

In another video, she appeared dressed entirely in white, with elaborate hair decorated with beads and feathers. Her face was painted with white markings, while a dark substance appeared to cover parts of her face and teeth.

The dramatic appearance quickly attracted attention online, with social media users commenting on her condition and the meaning behind her appearance.

Queen Nandi, however, used the occasion to reject comparisons being made between her and the legendary Ghanaian warrior and queen mother Yaa Asantewaa.=

“I am Queen Nandi, not Yaa Asantewaa,” she declared.

She subsequently described herself as the “Queen of Outcasts”, saying the Kubala Kingdom belongs to people who have been cast aside. She also maintained that she remains loved by her family.

Her comments have added to the public fascination surrounding the couple, whose activities have repeatedly generated debate on social media.

The latest developments also come against the backdrop of an earlier warning attributed to Prophet Ogyaba concerning Atehene, identified as Kofi Offeh.

According to the reports cited, the prophet urged leaders in Sunyani to remove Atehene from the area, warning of a possible tragedy involving a young girl if action was not taken. The reported prophecy generated significant public discussion, although the claims remain part of the wider controversy and have not been independently substantiated.

The emergence of the footage of the Matanga Oracle has therefore brought renewed attention to Atehene’s activities before his rehabilitation.
