Sarkodie Defies Rain To Thrill Fans At Rapperholic Kumasi Concert

The much-anticipated Rapperholic concert in Kumasi, headlined by the celebrated rapper Sarkodie, lived up to expectations despite a heavy downpour that disrupted the show midway at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium last Saturday night.

From the early hours of the evening, the stadium began filling up with fans, many of them proudly wearing Rapperholic-branded T-shirts.

The atmosphere was electric as music lovers, some travelling from across the Ashanti Region and beyond, gathered to witness what was billed as one of the biggest entertainment events of the year in Kumasi.

However, just when the show was gathering momentum, nature intervened.

A sudden rainstorm swept through the stadium, leaving thousands of attendees scrambling for shelter.

The downpour threatened to cut short the night of celebration, as drenched fans huddled under stands and improvised covers.

Remarkably, the majority of the crowd refused to disperse.

As the rain subsided, fans returned to their seats, cheering loudly as if to announce their determination to see the show through.

That resilience paid off when Sarkodie and supporting acts stormed back onto the stage, reigniting the energy and driving the performance well into the early hours of Sunday.

This was not the first time Sarkodie’s concerts have faced challenges. His annual Rapperholic event, which started in Accra over a decade ago, has built a reputation for being a cultural spectacle that blends hip-hop, hiplife, and Afrobeats.

Extending the franchise to Kumasi, often referred to as the Garden City, marked a significant step in his mission to decentralize major entertainment shows beyond the capital.

Despite the setback caused by the rain, many fans described the night as “unforgettable.”

Videos shared on social media showed a visibly moved Sarkodie thanking the crowd for their loyalty and endurance. In his closing remarks, the multiple award-winning rapper promised to return to Kumasi with an even bigger edition next year.
