Antoine Semenyo has moved another step closer to the top of Premier League scoring charts after reaching a major career milestone during Manchester City’s 1-0 victory over Coventry City.
The 26-year-old Ghana international provided the decisive assist for Erling Haaland’s winning goal at the Etihad Stadium, taking his total Premier League goal contributions to 50.
That achievement has lifted Semenyo into second place among Ghanaian players with the most goal contributions in Premier League history, with only his fellow Black Stars forward Jordan Ayew ahead of him.
Ayew currently leads the Ghanaian ranking with 60 goal contributions, meaning Semenyo is now just 10 contributions away from matching the long-standing record held by the veteran forward.
What makes Semenyo’s achievement even more striking is the number of appearances required to reach the milestone. According to the figures provided, Ayew has needed almost 100 more Premier League appearances than Semenyo to register his 60 contributions.
Semenyo’s rapid rise has therefore added another significant chapter to his increasingly impressive career in English football.
The Manchester City forward has made an encouraging start to the 2026/27 campaign despite still waiting for his first Premier League goal of the season.
Rather than goals, his early impact has come through his creativity. He has already registered two assists in his opening three appearances, demonstrating his ability to influence matches even when he is not finding the net himself.
His latest contribution came against Coventry, when he helped Manchester City break the deadlock. Semenyo created the opening for Haaland, who finished the move in the 26th minute to give the home side a lead they ultimately protected until the final whistle.
The performance further underlined Semenyo’s growing importance at Manchester City following his move to the club.
