Of Quack Personal Physicians

That a non-physician was able to hold herself as a qualified doctor and to attend to the health needs of the President for a lengthy period during the First Gentleman’s opposition days is testament to how reckless things can be in this country.

Conversations are rife about how Anne Sansa Daly after serving the President as his physician was appointed a member of the Board of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) the criterion being her professional qualification.

Emboldened by her relationship with the President when he was in opposition she wrote this to him when he won the elections:

‘Congratulations to President-elect of Ghana John Dramani Mahama on this well deserved victory. It has been a great serving you as a personal physician especially during the difficult times in opposition and throughout the very tough campaign. You did it.’ After reading this and discovering later that she was a quack physician we can only exclaim ‘Wow’.

Some of the remarks following the exposure of the lady make interesting reading. One of such remarks which seeks to protect the image of the President following his health management by a quack originates from one of the latter’s spin managers. The bootlicker lapping on the development to shower plaudits on his paymaster has done so without looking back.

Johnnie Hughes of TV3 remarked that the revocation of the appointment to the NHIA Board because of the lady’s questionable credentials shows how listening the President is.

On the other hand it shows how vulnerable the President can be. Many months elapsed after his assumption of the leadership of the country before he discovered that the lady does not possess the medical qualification she claimed to have. She could have killed him with dangerous medicinal drugs.

No charges would be preferred against her because she is an NDC supporter.

The warped analysis as spewed by the TV3 man in an earlier paragraph is no longer necessary since after all the project to get NDC to power has been accomplished and so those engaged to spin about the 24-hour economy among others should now put on their thinking caps.

We are constrained to think that the lady besides the fake qualification has other attributes which could have attracted her to her former employer.

It is time the qualifications of people who come seeking employment or recognition on the corridors of power are scrutinized to obviate the embarrassing situation the personal physician put the whole country into.

The plethora of doctors or PhD is dwarfing. Perhaps this is the time to probe these.

Recently the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) had cause to demand of the President of the Ghana Union Traders Association (GUTA) Mr. Joseph Obeng to stop parading himself as a Dr. Obeng because according to the Commission honorary doctorate degree holders should not use the titles.

It has emerged also that NDC’s own Rashid Tanko Computer PhD is under scrutiny about his qualification.

During an interview on Citi last year he defended his qualification although those who listened to him found him fumbling, devoid of confidence.
