BY Issah Olegor

Ghanaian footballer Antoine Semenyo has made a significant mark in the Premier League, surpassing Tony Yeboah to become the country’s second-highest scorer in the league’s history.

Antoine Semenyo achieved this feat after scoring a brace for Bournemouth in their 3-1 comeback win over Fulham on Friday night.

A Sensational Season

The 25-year-old’s impressive performance at the Vitality Stadium saw him score his 25th and 26th Premier League goals, taking his tally for the season to six.

Notably, only Erling Haaland (8) has scored more league goals than Semenyo this season.

In addition to his goals, Semenyo also provided an assist, bringing his total assists to three, which puts him just behind Jack Grealish in the league’s assist charts.

Comparing Semenyo And Yeboah’s Premier League Records

While Semenyo has scored 26 goals in 88 Premier League matches, Yeboah scored 24 goals in 47 appearances for Leeds United across three seasons.

This means Semenyo has played 41 more matches than Yeboah but has still managed to surpass his goal tally.

Top Premier League Scorers

The top scorers from Ghana in the Premier League are:

– Jordan Ayew: 42 goals in 305 appearances over 11 seasons

– Antoine Semenyo: 26 goals in 88 appearances

– Tony Yeboah: 24 goals in 47 appearances

– Jeffrey Schlupp: 22 goals in 280 appearances

Semenyo’s goal-scoring rate is impressive, averaging a goal every three Premier League matches, while Jordan Ayew requires more than seven games to score a goal.

Notably, Jeffrey Schlupp is the only Ghanaian in the top five to have won the Premier League title, achieving this feat with Leicester City in 2016.
