The children of the late Ghanaian highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, have publicly dissociated themselves from an ongoing court case and family disagreements surrounding the musician’s funeral and burial arrangements.
In a statement signed by Charlyn Fosu on behalf of all children born to Akosua Serwaa Fosuh and the late musician, the group emphasized that they are not parties to the legal proceedings and have no interest in engaging in family disputes.
“We, the children of Akosua Serwaa and Daddy Lumba, wish to clarify that we are not part of any legal process regarding our father’s funeral. We want to honour his memory in a peaceful and dignified manner befitting his legacy,” the statement read.
The statement further urged the public and media to show restraint in their commentary about the family and the pending court case, stressing that their collective focus remains on celebrating their father’s enduring musical legacy.
“Our father deserves a farewell that reflects the peace, dignity, and unity he valued in life,” the children stated.
Background
This clarification from Daddy Lumba’s children comes amid an increasingly family dispute over the funeral and burial of the late music icon.
In recent weeks, Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, the widow of Daddy Lumba, reportedly filed for an injunction to halt the planned funeral, which had been scheduled for December 6, 2025.
According to her, neither she nor her children were consulted in the funeral planning process — a move she described as disrespectful to the late musician’s immediate family.
Following the injunction, Mrs. Fosuh and Ernestina Fosuh, the musician’s elder sister, jointly issued another press release demanding a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Daddy Lumba’s death.
They alleged that there were conflicting accounts regarding how the 60-year-old highlife legend passed away on July 26, 2025, in Ghana.
The duo called on both Ghanaian and German authorities to initiate an independent probe, citing inconsistencies in the medical and family narratives that followed his demise.
The family’s internal disagreements have since deepened, with legal actions and public statements drawing wide attention from fans and industry observers.
Children Call for Unity Amidst Tension
Despite the ongoing turmoil, Daddy Lumba’s children have sought to project a message of unity and respect, distancing themselves from the ongoing feud.
They described their father as a symbol of peace and inspiration, whose contribution to the music industry transcended generations.
The children said their priority is to ensure that his funeral “reflects the honour and respect” he earned throughout his career.
They concluded by appealing to the media to avoid sensationalism in reporting on the family’s affairs, reminding the public that their father’s legacy should not be overshadowed by controversy.
