Ghana Premier League defending champions Bibiani Gold Stars have appointed Swiss tactician Fritz Markus Schmid as their new head coach, signing a two-year contract.
Schmid, a seasoned coach with extensive experience at the highest level of the game, brings a wealth of knowledge to the team.
Schmid’s impressive resume includes stints as an assistant coach with Tottenham Hotspur, FC Basel, and the Austria National Team, as well as head coach of the New Zealand Men’s National Team.
Most recently, he guided Kotoku Royals to promotion into the Ghana Premier League, showcasing his ability to lead teams to success.
Gold Stars, currently sitting third in the league table with 25 points, are looking to Schmid to lead them to challenge for the title.
“Welcome to the family, Coach Fritz. We’re glad to have you with us,” the club said in a statement.
Schmid replaces Stephen Frimpong Manso, who was dismissed following the club’s first-leg CAF Champions League loss to Algerian side JS Kabily.
The Swiss coach will oversee the team as they prepare to host Dreams FC at DUN’s Park in Matchday.
