The signing of a peace pact has never been so critical in the history of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In the wisdom of the leadership of the party this activity is in the best interest of the party and so yesterday as scheduled the five contenders to the highly prized position turned up at Alisa Hotel in Accra to append their signatures to the pact that enjoins them not to rock the boat of the party at the end of the election on 31 January 2026.
It is interesting though that many doubt whether the party and the country’s political space will nonetheless be spared the cacophony of one person notorious for such attitude among the contenders.
Perhaps the much touted ‘showdown’ threat would be held back this time around. The last one though which came in the form of ‘I have never seen such a liar like the former Vice President in my life’ has taught Kennedy Ohene Agyapong a bitter lesson. For the first time he has had to apologise to the former Vice President for arranging a lie and festooning same on his principal target or adversary.
Social media was abuzz with vitriolic being directed at the aggressor.
The former Vice President’s reliance on God to protect him as capsuled in the following has come to pass… ‘God will protect the tailless cow’ and he has.
At the time of composing this leader a response from the Campaign Team of the former Vice President has not yet come. There is anxiety among Ghanaians from the two dominant parties as to whether the apology would be acceptable or not.
Although we were part of the many Ghanaians who thought that given his haughty nature Kennedy Ohene Agyapong would not express apology to the former Vice President for the lie he heaped upon him he has proven us wrong the reason for which is not far-fetched. The fallout from this concocted lie is unlike no other in the history of the former Assin Central MP.
If we were to be in the shoes of Dr. Bawumia we would have accepted the apology only if Ken retracts the previous lies he heaped upon him.
The so-called demand from him by Dr. Bawumia for millions of dollars so he would withdraw from the last internal elections of the party among others all demand apologies and retractions.
This is not what Ken would have wished for himself at this hour when the D-Day is only a few days away.
We pray that given the magnitude of the bruise he has suffered following this gargantuan lie he would hold back his so-called machomen and also tell his friends in the other political party that ‘no thanks I do not need your thugs any longer.’
Ken has persisted on this trajectory for far too long and we cannot afford to allow him to continue. Although the party has not been able to get him back to the barn nature has done so with a massive jolt through the self-inflicted bruise.
