Fake Soldier Arrested On His Way To Meet Nurse

Security agencies in Accra have arrested a 37-year-old man for allegedly impersonating a military officer, raising fresh concerns about the growing trend of fake security personnel operating in public spaces and exploiting public trust in uniformed services.

The suspect was apprehended while moving through the city dressed in a full military uniform, an appearance that immediately attracted the attention of security personnel.

His conduct and mannerisms reportedly raised suspicion, prompting officers to stop and question him about his identity and affiliation with the Ghana Armed Forces.

Upon verification, authorities discovered that the man had no valid military identification or documentation to prove he was a serving officer.

Further checks confirmed that he was not a member of the armed forces, leading to his immediate arrest for impersonation—an offence regarded as a serious threat to national security and public safety.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was allegedly on his way to meet a nurse at the time of his arrest.

While the exact purpose of the meeting has not been officially established, security agencies are investigating whether the impersonation was part of a broader pattern of deception, fraud, or criminal activity, rather than an isolated personal encounter.

Meanwhile, the suspect remains in police custody and is expected to be formally charged in court with impersonation and related offences once investigations are concluded.
