A youth activist and grassroots mobiliser, Robertson Nana Kumi Agyapong, popularly known as Akompreko Agyapong Jnr, has formally declared his intention to contest for the position of Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ayensuano Constituency in the Eastern Region, setting the tone for what is expected to be a competitive internal party contest ahead of the party’s constituency-level elections.

In a declaration issued to party members and supporters, he said his decision is grounded in his “strong belief in the principles and ideology of the NPP,” his long-standing familiarity with the Ayensuano Constituency, and his commitment to strengthening the party through effective, inclusive and efficient youth mobilisation and grassroots engagement.

He emphasized that the future of the party at the constituency level depends largely on how well the youth are organised, empowered and integrated into party structures and activities.

Placing communication at the centre of modern political organisation, Agyensuano’s youth aspirant argued that effective storytelling and communication are essential tools for mobilising support, defending party policies, and promoting the achievements of the NPP among the people of the constituency.

He described himself as a passionate communicator and “storyteller” capable of projecting the Ayensuano narrative in a way that resonates with young people and grassroots supporters, positioning youth mobilisation not just as recruitment, but as political education and civic engagement.

The declaration comes at a time when the NPP is seeking to rebuild and reorganise its grassroots structures across constituencies, following internal reviews of party performance and calls by party leadership for stronger youth participation in party decision-making and campaign structures.

Historically, the Youth Organizer position has been a strategic role within the party’s hierarchy, serving as the main link between national youth leadership, constituency executives, and grassroots supporters, especially during election cycles.

He pledged to work with “utmost commitment and sincerity” with party leadership, delegates, and party faithful to promote the fortunes of the NPP in Ayensuano.

He stressed unity, loyalty to party structures, and collective responsibility as the foundation for electoral success, noting that the strength of the party at the national level is built from strong, organised constituencies.

His declaration formally signals the beginning of the contest for the youth organiser slot in the constituency, adding momentum to internal party activities as the NPP prepares for its internal elections and broader political engagements.

However, Party members in Ayensuano are now expected to assess aspirants based on their organisational ability, grassroots appeal, and capacity to mobilise and inspire young people toward the party’s long-term political objectives.
