A Ghanaian herbal wellness brand has officially expanded into the Nigerian market following regulatory clearance from the country’s medicines authority.
Diagnostic Herbal Industry Ghana (DHI) has launched its flagship product, Thorntina‑74 Herbal Mixture, in Nigeria after receiving approval from National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
The product launch was held at the Eridan Space Centre and took the form of a press briefing and product unveiling ceremony attended by journalists, media executives, regulatory representatives and stakeholders in the health and wellness sector.
Present at the launch were Dr. Kwame Osei-Konadu, Director; Nana Yaw Owusu-Gyapong, Director; Dr. Benjamin Adzekey, Technical Director of DHI Ghana; and Henry L. Seymour, Nigeria Country Manager for Thorntina-74.
Thorntina-74, popularly known as T-74, is an herbal formulation designed to support general wellbeing, immune health and everyday vitality.
The product has already gained wide acceptance in Ghana and has expanded into other markets including South Africa, Sierra Leone and the United States before its latest introduction into Nigeria.
Addressing participants at the event, the Director of Diagnostic Herbal Industry Ghana, Kwame Osei‑Konadu, described the Nigerian launch as a significant milestone in the company’s strategy to expand its presence across West Africa.
According to him, the product was developed through years of scientific research combined with traditional herbal knowledge.
“Thorntina-74 is the result of years of scientific and traditional herbal research. Our entry into Nigeria, backed by NAFDAC approval, reflects our commitment to delivering safe and effective herbal wellness solutions to African consumers,” he stated.
Also speaking at the event, the Technical Director of DHI Ghana, Benjamin Adzekey, emphasised that the herbal mixture is positioned strictly as a wellness support product rather than a treatment for diseases.
He stressed the importance of responsible communication in the promotion of herbal products.
“T-74 is positioned as a general wellness herbal mixture. It is not marketed as a cure for diseases but as a natural support for the body’s overall wellbeing,” he explained.
The Nigeria Country Manager for the brand, Henry L. Seymour, revealed that the company will adopt a controlled distribution system in Nigeria to protect consumers and maintain product authenticity.
He indicated that the herbal mixture will be sold only through accredited agents and approved retail partners rather than through the open market.
“Our focus is to build trust in the Nigerian market. By working only with accredited agents and partner pharmacies, we can guarantee that consumers receive the original product at the right quality and standard,” Seymour noted.
