MOGA Unveils Health Walk 2026 To Promote Wellness, Sisterhood, Preventive Healthcare

The Mfantsiman Old Girls’ Association (MOGA) has announced plans for its flagship annual National Health Walk, a nationwide wellness initiative designed to promote healthy living, preventive healthcare and stronger bonds among members across Ghana and beyond.

Scheduled for Saturday, June 27, 2026, the event has been branded the “Reloaded Edition” and will be held under the theme, “Purple Steps, Healthy Hearts, One MOGA 2.0.”

The annual health walk has become one of the association’s most important programmes, reflecting MOGA’s commitment to encouraging healthy lifestyles among its members while fostering community engagement and social interaction within its growing network of old students.

This year’s edition is expected to be the largest in the association’s history, bringing together members from multiple regions across Ghana as well as chapters in the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

According to the National Executive Committee of MOGA, the simultaneous multi-city event underscores the association’s vision of creating a globally connected sisterhood united by a common commitment to health, empowerment and service.

The initiative comes at a time when health experts continue to advocate preventive healthcare measures as a critical strategy for reducing the burden of non-communicable diseases, including hypertension, diabetes and obesity, which have become increasing public health concerns in Ghana and around the world.

Organizers believe that by combining physical exercise with free health screenings and wellness education, the event will encourage participants to take proactive steps toward safeguarding their health.

Activities will take place simultaneously in several locations across the country, reflecting the broad reach of the MOGA network.

The Accra Chapter will host its event at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, while participants in Koforidua will gather at Jackson’s Park.

In Kumasi, members will converge at the KNUST Wellness Centre, while the Winneba and Swedru Chapter will assemble at the Agona Swedru Government Hospital.

The Cape Coast Chapter will begin activities at the Mfantsipim School Junction, the Takoradi Chapter at the Takoradi Technical University Park and the Tarkwa Chapter at the T&A Stadium.

Organizers say the nationwide approach is intended to ensure that as many members as possible can participate regardless of their geographical location.

A major highlight of this year’s event will be the provision of free health screening services at all participating venues.

Participants will have access to eye examinations, blood pressure checks, blood glucose testing and Body Mass Index (BMI) assessments, among other preventive health services.

Qualified healthcare professionals will also be available to provide health education, counseling and wellness advice through dedicated health booths and interactive engagement sessions.

According to MOGA leadership, promoting awareness and encouraging early detection of health conditions remains central to the association’s broader social impact agenda.

In a bid to make the event more engaging and family-friendly, organizers have introduced several new attractions under the “Reloaded Edition.”

Among the additions are inter-house games competitions that will allow members to participate in friendly contests while competing for attractive prizes.

Recognizing the growing number of young mothers within the association, MOGA has also introduced a dedicated children’s activity zone known as the “MOGALET Corner.”

The specially designed playground will provide a safe and entertaining environment for children, featuring games, fun activities and opportunities for social interaction while allowing parents to fully participate in the day’s activities.

To enhance the festive atmosphere, attendees will also be treated to live entertainment throughout the event.

A brass band and professional disc jockeys are expected to provide music and entertainment, creating a vibrant atmosphere that combines fitness, fun and celebration.

The Accra edition of the health walk is expected to attract significant public attention due to the participation of several distinguished personalities.

Among the special guests expected to attend are renowned media personality Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, popularly known as Abeiku Santana, celebrated academic and international business scholar Professor Robert Ebo Hinson, and veteran broadcaster and women’s empowerment advocate Oheneyere Gifty Anti, who is herself a proud member of MOGA.

Their participation is expected to add further visibility to the event and reinforce messages around healthy living and community engagement.

The health walk will also serve as a platform for strengthening relationships among old students’ associations across the country.

Organizers have extended invitations to alumni groups from several prestigious educational institutions, including Adisadel College, Mfantsipim School, Wesley Girls’ High School, St. Augustine’s College, Holy Child School, Aggrey Memorial A.M.E. Zion Senior High School, Ghana National College, Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School, Accra Academy, St. Mary’s Senior High School and Aburi Girls’ Senior High School.

The involvement of these institutions is expected to deepen collaboration among alumni associations and promote a spirit of unity and mutual support.

Speaking ahead of the event, MOGA National President, Henrietta Opokua Amissah, described the upcoming health walk as a reflection of the association’s commitment to wellness, unity and lifelong sisterhood.

According to her, this year’s edition represents a significant expansion of the programme and demonstrates the strength of the MOGA network both locally and internationally.

“This Reloaded Edition is bigger, bolder and more connected than ever. It reflects the unstoppable strength of our global sisterhood,” she stated.

The 2026 MOGA National Health Walk is being supported by a number of sponsors and partners, including TWISCO, Blue Skies, Voltic, Fan Milk Ghana, Shades of Sam, St. Michael’s Hospital and Qualicare.
