Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, is reportedly receiving medical treatment in a facility at East Legon after surviving what sources describe as a gun attack on her vehicle during a tense confrontation linked to the ongoing succession battle within the Kristo Asafo Mission.

The incident, which reportedly occurred on Sunday, has intensified concerns over growing divisions within the family of the late Apostle Emeritus Kwadwo Safo, founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission, whose succession has become the subject of legal disputes and competing claims among family members.

According to information available from sources familiar with the incident, the former legislator was at the residence of her younger brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, when the shooting allegedly occurred.

The residence was reportedly hosting a gathering of supporters linked to efforts to install Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena as the successor to the late founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission.

Witnesses claim that tensions at the location escalated during the gathering, prompting concerns about security and public safety.

According to accounts from persons said to have been present, armed men allegedly opened fire on a vehicle carrying or associated with Adwoa Safo while she was at the premises.

Sources allege that approximately 15 rounds of ammunition were discharged during the incident, creating panic among those gathered at the scene.

It is further alleged that one of the bullets grazed the former Member of Parliament near her neck, resulting in injuries that required immediate medical attention.

Following the incident, Adwoa Safo was reportedly rushed to a medical facility for treatment.

Sources close to the former legislator indicate that she is in stable condition and responding well to treatment.

The full extent of her injuries has not been officially disclosed.

The alleged attack has attracted significant public attention because of the prominence of the individuals involved and the ongoing succession dispute within the Kristo Asafo Mission, one of the most influential religious and industrial movements.

The succession battle began following the death of Apostle Kwadwo Safo, whose contributions to technology, manufacturing, education and religious leadership made him one of the most celebrated innovators and spiritual leaders.

Since his passing, disagreements have emerged regarding who should succeed him as leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission and oversee the affairs of the organization.

The dispute has increasingly moved beyond internal family discussions and has become the subject of legal proceedings.

In recent weeks, some family members and stakeholders have challenged attempts to install Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena as the next leader of the mission, resulting in litigation before the courts.

The disagreement has generated widespread interest due to the influence and assets associated with the Kristo Asafo movement, which includes churches, educational institutions, industrial ventures and technological projects.

According to sources, police officers from the Dome District Command were alerted as tensions mounted at the residence and quickly moved to the scene to provide security and prevent further disturbances.

Their intervention is said to have helped restore calm amid fears that the confrontation could escalate into a larger conflict.

However, details regarding the circumstances leading to the shooting remain unclear.

While witnesses have made various allegations concerning those responsible, no official findings have yet been released by law enforcement authorities.

As of the time of filing this report, the Ghana Police Service had not issued an official statement confirming the incident, the number of shots allegedly fired or the identities of any suspects.
