Legendary Nigerian actor Pete Edochie has paid an emotional visit to veteran Ghanaian actor Emmanuel Armah during his legacy tour of Ghana, offering financial assistance and prayers for his colleague’s recovery.
Edochie visited Armah at his residence in Accra on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, after repeatedly expressing his desire to see the veteran Ghanaian actor during his stay in the country.
The emotional encounter was captured on video and shared by Ghana-based Nigerian content creator and comedian Parrot Mouth, with footage of the meeting attracting attention on social media.
Emmanuel Armah, who has featured prominently in both Ghanaian and Nigerian film productions over the years, has reportedly been dealing with serious health complications for nearly 11 years.
According to his wife and caregiver, the actor’s health challenges began while he was in the United States. She explained that he suffered a health crisis linked to high blood pressure and elevated cholesterol levels, after which he was eventually brought back to Ghana for further care.
During the visit, Armah spoke about his prolonged health struggles and some of the difficulties he continues to experience.
He explained that parts of his body, particularly his hands and legs, sometimes swell. Despite his condition, he said he has entrusted his life to God.
“Whenever you feel it is time for me to go, just take me. Don’t let me bother the people who are around me.”
His wife disclosed that the veteran actor is currently undergoing physiotherapy at City Physiotherapy in Accra and receives regular massages as part of his care.
She also indicated that despite his physical condition, Armah remains mentally alert. According to her, he continues to recognise people by name and often asks about friends and colleagues he has not seen for some time.
Pete Edochie’s emotional reunion
The Nigerian actor recalled that Emmanuel Armah was the first Ghanaian actor he worked with on a Nigerian production, a collaboration that eventually developed into a lasting friendship.
After seeing Armah again following several years apart, Edochie struggled to contain his emotions.
“I haven’t seen him for years, and seeing him now, it is difficult for me to blink tears back from my eyes.”
Edochie subsequently offered Armah financial assistance. He also handed over an additional donation that had been given to him by a well-wisher the previous day, saying he hoped the money would assist with the actor’s medication and other medical needs.
The veteran Nollywood actor then led those gathered at Armah’s residence in prayer, asking for God’s intervention and strength for his Ghanaian colleague.
The meeting followed an earlier appearance by Edochie in Ghana during his legacy tour, when he mentioned Emmanuel Armah as one of the people he hoped to visit.
