Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has received a delegation from the Geneva Institute for Leadership and Public Policy, led by former Prime Minister of Slovakia, Eduard Heger, for discussions on leadership, democratic governance and international collaboration.

The courtesy visit, which took place in Accra on Monday, November 2, 2026, formed part of the delegation’s engagements during its visit to Ghana for a conference on the theme, “Collaborative Governance for Resilient Societies.”

Akufo-Addo disclosed the meeting in a statement, explaining that discussions centred on individual and shared perspectives on leadership, the importance of mutual learning and a common commitment to freedom, democratic governance and democratic ideals.

The engagement also provided an opportunity for both sides to explore areas of continued interaction and collaboration, particularly in promoting effective leadership and strengthening democratic institutions.

The delegation was led by Eduard Heger, who served as Prime Minister of Slovakia from 2021 to 2023 and has remained engaged in international discussions on governance and public policy.

The meeting comes against the background of growing international conversations about the role of collaborative leadership, institutional accountability and democratic resilience in addressing the challenges confronting modern societies.

Akufo-Addo, who served as the President from January 2017 to January 2025, has frequently participated in international engagements focusing on democracy, governance and public leadership since leaving office.

The Geneva Institute’s conference in Accra is expected to provide a platform for policymakers, political leaders and governance practitioners to exchange ideas on building resilient societies through cooperation, democratic values and effective public institutions.
