Ned Nwoko Threatens Bloggers With Legal Action Over Fake Death Reports About Regina Daniels

BY GRACE ZIGAH

Nigerian senator Ned Nwoko has threatened legal action against bloggers and social media users accused of spreading fabricated reports about his estranged wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, particularly false announcements claiming that she is dead and misleading publications concerning her health.

The lawmaker has appealed to the public, including Regina’s fans, friends and social media commentators, to stop circulating unverified information about the actress and give her the privacy and support he believes she needs during what he described as a difficult period in her life.

In a statement shared on his Instagram page, Nwoko expressed concern over the growing circulation of misleading stories about Daniels, arguing that such publications are causing her emotional distress rather than helping her.

He urged bloggers and online commentators to exercise restraint and avoid turning the actress’s personal circumstances into material for public attacks and speculation.

According to the senator, Regina has endured considerable challenges and deserves compassion, understanding and an opportunity to recover away from unnecessary public scrutiny.

“I want to make a sincere appeal to the public, particularly Regina’s fans, friends, bloggers and social media commentators, to please give Regina some breathing space,” he stated.

Nwoko further maintained that the actress needs love and support rather than criticism, insisting that the public should be mindful of the impact of its comments and publications on her well-being.

“Regina has been through a lot, more than many people may realise, and right now, what she needs most is love, support and the opportunity to recover,” he added.

The senator also referred to a birthday video shared by Daniels, suggesting that the footage offered an insight into some of the health challenges she had reportedly been experiencing.

He cautioned the public against exploiting the situation to attack or vilify the actress, stressing that her well-being should remain a priority.

Nwoko expressed particular displeasure over fabricated death announcements and misleading reports about her health and private life.

He argued that such publications were not harmless attempts to generate social media engagement but could further worsen the difficulties she was experiencing.

“These things are not harmless social media engagement. Regina sees many of these posts, and they are deeply distressing. They do nothing to support her recovery; rather, they add to the burden she is already carrying,” he said.

Bloggers Face Possible Legal Action

Beyond appealing for public restraint, Nwoko issued a strong warning to bloggers and social media users whom he accused of deliberately circulating false information about Daniels.

He disclosed that publications concerning the actress were being documented and that individuals found responsible for spreading fabricated claims could face legal consequences.

“We are documenting these publications, and anyone found responsible will be held accountable through the appropriate legal channels,” he warned.

The senator urged fans and well-wishers not to amplify unverified reports, particularly claims relating to the actress’s death, health and personal circumstances.
