Veteran Ghanaian highlife musician Barosky has made a striking return to the music studio just two days after being repatriated from the United Kingdom, offering fans a glimpse of what could be the beginning of a new chapter in his career.
The musician, whose real name is Isaac Obeng Mensah, was spotted alongside renowned music producer Appietus in a recording studio on Wednesday, September 9, in a development that has generated excitement and curiosity among music lovers.
Appietus, born Appiah Dankwah, shared a video of the encounter on Facebook, showing himself and Barosky singing together during what appeared to be a lively and friendly studio session.
The footage has attracted attention largely because of the difficult circumstances surrounding Barosky’s recent return to Ghana. Just days earlier, the veteran musician had been at the centre of public concern after distressing videos showing him apparently in distress on the streets of Manchester circulated widely on social media.
Those images sparked widespread concern among Ghanaians, music lovers and public officials, eventually leading to efforts to facilitate his return home.
Barosky was repatriated to Ghana on Monday, September 7, following the circulation of the troubling footage from Manchester.
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa subsequently confirmed that the Ghanaian government had fully funded the musician’s return and was providing support as he readjusts to life in Ghana.
According to the minister, the assistance includes psychosocial support and financial aid, aimed at helping the veteran artiste settle back into his home country following his difficult experience in the United Kingdom.
The circumstances surrounding Barosky’s time in Manchester had raised serious concerns about his welfare, particularly because of his status as a veteran musician who had previously enjoyed recognition within Ghana’s highlife music community.
