A 43-year-old fisherman, James Kpodo, is in the grips of the Aflao Police over alleged abduction and defilement of a 10-year-old girl at Aflao in the Ketu South Municipality.
Kpodo, who is from Adafienu but lives at Aflao Akligokope in the Avoeme East Electoral Area on Sunday, May 11, met the victim who was on an errand for her mother, and asked her to follow him.
The suspect kept the victim in his room till Tuesday, May 13 when he released her, having sexually assaulted her.
Bright Agboworda, Assembly member for the area who spoke in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said, a neighbour happened to chance on the victim when she was coming out from the suspect’s room and upon questioning, she narrated her ordeal.
A complaint was then lodged at the Aflao Police Station, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
A medical form had been issued to the victim for her examination and treatment at the Ketu South Municipal Hospital and is yet to be returned to the police.
A police source confirmed the case to GNA disclosing that investigations were still ongoing and that the suspect would be arraigned before the court.
