Another opportunity has come the way of President John Mahama and the Special Prosecutor to prove their aversion to corruption.
As for the Special Prosecutor, with such clear evidence he could ride on this to prove he is up to the task bestowed upon him. He should above all show that he is not selective in cases he follows. This being an NDC-inclined case he definitely will overlook it. That is what many are saying but he could be preparing to launch a frontal attack. We are waiting anyway.
If after a little over four months a government appointee can exude the level of extravagance and abuse of office Sammy Gyamfi displayed last weekend then in the coming months more serious scandals will come the way of Ghanaians.
The Law Of Karma is real. It has caught Sammy Gyamfi in its net as he wriggles to extricate himself.
We await what President John Mahama is going to do following this scandalous act by his appointee. The scandal comes on the heels of President Mahama’s recent launching of a code of conduct for appointees.
Perhaps Sammy Gyamfi one of the young men in the NDC noted for their sharp teeth is inadvertently testing the President’s ability to walk his talk on corruption or breaches to his so-called Code Of Conduct.
Many have doubted whether any meaningful sanction would be exacted upon John Mahama’s expert propagandist.
Following the public discontent with his conduct especially within the NDC fold, Sammy Gyamfi has released an apology of sorts.
If you ask us we would say that the apology itself calls for another apology. The insulting show of indiscretion from Sammy affects all Ghanaians and not restricted only to the NDC followership.
Unfortunately by design or so his apology is drafted for the NDC. His reference to ‘folks’ and ‘comrades’ makes the so-called apology meant for the NDC and not for the people of Ghana.
We cannot fold our arms and pretend that we as Ghanaians are not incensed with the selective apology from Sammy Gyamfi.
He is said to have come under intense flak from within the NDC foot soldiers who think that it was their sweat that brought the party to power.
In his apology he said he was only showing kindness to a needy person in private unknowing to him the gesture was captured.
Agraada the lady he gifted the US Dollars is no needy person as he sought to make his compatriots believe.
Shamima Muslim is reported to have stated that GHC20,000 is peanuts to a minister. There is a correlation between this and the opulence exhibited by Sammy Gyamfi.
Money, plenty of it, luxurious cars, beautiful residences and above all good living were the attributes Sammy Gyamfi sought for himself and his colleagues hence the unquantifiable insults against the NPP when the NDC was in opposition. Time changes and fast.
