In a significant development in the entertainment and legal landscape, Patricia Asiedua, the self-styled evangelist widely known as Agradaa, has issued a public apology and paid GH¢100,000 to gospel musician Empress Gifty Oppong Adorye, bringing an amicable end to a defamation lawsuit that has spanned nearly a year.

The settlement has now been formalised as a consent judgment by the High Court in Tema.

The dispute traces back to two defamation suits filed by Empress Gifty on May 20, 2025, and June 26, 2025, alleging that Agradaa had made slanderous and libellous statements which damaged her professional reputation.

Gifty, in her writ, sought GH¢40 million in damages, a perpetual injunction against further defamatory remarks, the removal of related content from social media platforms, and full coverage of legal and professional fees.

Following months of legal wrangling, the parties engaged in constructive dialogue, mediated through their legal teams, culminating in a mutual settlement.

Under the agreement, Agradaa not only issued a public apology but also paid GH¢100,000, covering legal costs and related expenses.

The consent judgment formalises the resolution and legally bars Empress Gifty from pursuing further claims connected to the case.

A press statement dated January 20, 2026, from Agyaa Asamani Law Consult, representing Agradaa, highlighted that the settlement was reached privately and voluntarily, with both parties agreeing to the terms.

The apology was rendered publicly in line with the court-approved settlement, signalling Agradaa’s recognition of the reputational harm caused.

Edem Mensah-Tsotorme, Empress Gifty’s manager, confirmed that the singer had accepted the settlement, and that Agradaa’s apology and the payment had already been completed, bringing finality to the matter. The self-styled evangelist is already serving jail term for a different offence.
