Chaos At Church Of Pentecost Easter Convention As Suspected Land Guards Disrupt Service

BY Issah Olegor

Tension marred Easter celebrations in Gomoa Nyanyano after suspected land guards stormed a convention organised by the Church of Pentecost, disrupting worship activities and forcing congregants to flee.

The incident occurred on Sunday, April 5, 2026, during a service marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ, held at the forecourt of the community palace.

According to reports, the suspected land guards invaded the grounds, dismantled canopy tents, and ordered worshippers to vacate the venue, causing panic among attendees.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that the disturbance may be linked to an ongoing chieftaincy dispute in the area.

Sources indicate that organisers of the convention had invited two rival chiefs in an attempt to foster unity, but only one faction honoured the invitation.

The absence of the opposing faction is believed to have triggered tensions, leading to the alleged mobilisation of the land guards to disrupt the event.

The situation, which threatened to escalate into a broader confrontation, was swiftly brought under control following the intervention of the Central East Regional Police Command. Security personnel moved in promptly to restore order and prevent further violence.

Despite the seriousness of the incident, leadership of the Church of Pentecost in the area has so far declined to comment publicly on the matter.

The unrest highlights the lingering tensions in Gomoa Nyanyano, where unresolved chieftaincy issues following the demise of Nana Wiabo V continue to create instability in the community.
