Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, has assured party supporters that he is recovering well after suffering a health scare that required emergency hospital attention.

In a message to party members, the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman disclosed that he became unwell and was taken to the hospital, but expressed gratitude to God for his recovery.

“I broke down yesterday and went to hospital. Thank God, I’m doing well this morning. The work continues!” he stated on Sunday.

His message came shortly after the NPP completed its national executive election, which saw delegates elect a new team to lead the party as it begins preparations towards the 2028 general elections.

Chairman COKA congratulated the newly elected national executives, describing their victories as the outcome of a hard-fought internal contest. He wished the incoming leadership wisdom and strength as they assume responsibility for steering the affairs of the party.

“I woke up to the news that our new National Executives have been elected. Congratulations to each of you on a battle well fought. We wish you wisdom and strength as you take up the mantle,” he said.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman also extended a message to the unsuccessful candidates, urging them not to regard their defeats as the end of their political journeys.

“To colleagues who did not win, better luck next time,” he said, signalling the need for unsuccessful aspirants and their supporters to remain engaged with the party rather than allowing the internal contest to create lasting divisions.

His appeal comes at a significant moment for the NPP, which has emerged from a highly competitive national executive election and must now transition from internal competition to organisational rebuilding.

The party has elected John Boadu as National Chairman, while Justin Frimpong Kodua was re-elected General Secretary. Kojo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo Bamba, was elected First Vice Chairman, with Henry Nana Boakye becoming Second Vice Chairman and Nana Akomea elected Third Vice Chairman.

Other newly elected executives include Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover as National Organiser, Abanga Yakubu Fuseini as National Youth Organiser and Mavis Hawa Koomson as National Women’s Organiser.

The new leadership is expected to work alongside the party’s presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, as the NPP seeks to rebuild its structures, reconnect with its grassroots and prepare for the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.
