A man identified as **Alhaji Abdulai**, a resident of Macheleyili, a community in Kpatinga in the Gusheigu District of the Northern Region, has reportedly died by suicide following difficulties in raising money to meet the admission requirements of his son’s Senior High School (SHS).
Residents of the community said Abdulai had in recent weeks been deeply concerned about his inability to raise the funds required to purchase items listed for his son’s admission to the school to which the young student had been placed.
According to residents, the financial difficulties reportedly weighed heavily on him, with Abdulai allegedly expressing frustration over his inability to raise the money needed to enable his son to begin his secondary education.
Residents further claimed that he had on several occasions threatened to take his own life if he was unable to secure the funds required to purchase the admission items.
They said Abdulai left his residence on the morning of **Sunday, September 20, 2026**, but failed to return home.
His absence reportedly triggered concern among relatives and residents, who subsequently began looking for him.
His body was reportedly discovered within the community on the afternoon of **Monday, September 21, 2026**, a day after he left home.
