What began as a bright future for 28-year-old Gifty Kyere, a final-year student of the Sunyani Midwifery and Nursing Training College, ended in tragedy last week when she died under mysterious and heartbreaking circumstances in the room of her 23-year-old boyfriend, Edmund Ayomah.

The story, now gripping the town of Jinijini and igniting conversations about reproductive health, gender rights, and legal accountability, has taken a grim turn as disturbing details continue to emerge.

A Promising Life Cut Short

Gifty, described by friends and family as hardworking and determined, had only recently returned home to collect her school fees and personal items to resume her final year at the college.

However, instead of heading back to school as planned, she diverted to visit her boyfriend — a decision that would tragically be her last.

According to her father, Gifty had assured the family she was returning to school.

It was only after hours of silence and unanswered calls that anxiety crept in.

The following day, the family received devastating news: Gifty was dead.

Conflicting Accounts and Chilling Confession

Initially, Ayomah claimed that Gifty had suffered a severe asthma attack and that he could not afford to take her to the hospital.

His explanation, however, quickly unraveled.

Investigations revealed inconsistencies in his accounts, prompting authorities to question him further.

Under pressure, Ayomah reportedly admitted to a failed attempt to terminate Gifty’s pregnancy using unorthodox and unsafe means.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at a certain morgue pending autopsy as the Police are investigating the matter.
