Former Transport Minister’s Family Sets December 12 For 40-Day Observance Of Late Father Kofi Sarfo Assiamah

The Asona Adonten Family of Denkyira Tumantu Dominase, Breman, has announced plans for the 40-Day Observance of the late Kofi Assiamah also known as Sarfo Assiamah, a respected former banking executive and father of former Minister of Transport, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah.

The ceremony is scheduled for Friday, December 12, 2025, at Zulka Park near the Dansoman Keep Fit Club in Accra.

The family says all arrangements have been finalised to honour a man whose life left an enduring imprint on his community and the nation.

Mr. Assiamah passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27, 2025, at the Accra Medical Centre, bringing to a close an accomplished life defined by service, enterprise, and integrity.

Before rising to prominence in the financial sector, he built a professional career across several national institutions.

His journey would eventually lead him to the erstwhile Social Security Bank—now Société Générale—where he rose to the position of Consumer Credit Manager.

Colleagues and contemporaries consistently praised him for his disciplined work ethics, fairness in leadership, and devotion to national development.4

Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Assiamah was widely known for his strong family values. Relatives and community members describe him as a principled man who combined humility with a passion for uplifting the people around him.

His dedication to both family and public service earned him admiration in Denkyira Tumantu Dominase, Breman, and beyond.

Speaking on behalf of the family, the Asona Adontenhene of Denkyira Tumantu Dominase, Breman, Nana Kokorko II, said meticulous preparations had been concluded to ensure the 40-Day Observance reflects the dignity and legacy of the late patriarch.

He emphasised that the event would be a solemn moment of reflection on a life well lived and a lasting opportunity for friends, relatives, and former colleagues to pay their respects.

Mr. Assiamah is survived by his wife, Dora Assiamah, and thirteen children, two of whom have predeceased him. His surviving children are: Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, Patricia Assiamah Aidoo, Gifty Afua Assiamah, Papa Yaw Acheampong, Kofi Assiamah Jnr (Ashie), Kofi Sarfo Assiamah, Pearl Rosalyn Nana Akua Asiedua Asiamah, Kwame Arko Assiamah, Nana Akosua Asantewaa Assiamah Owusu, Kate Maame Ama Ayemeduah Assiamah and Kwaku Kyere Assiamah

His departed children are Peter A. Ashman (Kwaku Addai) and Sylvia Adjoa Assiamah Akumiah.

The family says details regarding the final funeral rites will be announced in due course as they continue to coordinate with extended relatives, traditional authorities, and key stakeholders.
