The Ghana Police Administration has interdicted seven police officers accused of allegedly extorting money from a victim during patrol duties and compelling him to visit an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) to withdraw money for them.
The officers, who include an Inspector and a female Constable, were reportedly on patrol in the Cantonments area of Accra when they allegedly accosted the victim and demanded money. Graphic Online’s sources have indicated that the victim was a diplomat, although the Police Administration has not officially disclosed his identity or confirmed his diplomatic status.
The seven personnel named by the Police Administration are **Inspector Courage Boateng, Sergeant Stephen Addo, Corporal Moses Anyravi, Corporal Prosper Adiabo, Lance Corporal Samuel Anokye, Constable Henrietta Coleman and Constable Bernard Amoako**.
According to the allegations, the officers did not stop at demanding money from the victim but allegedly compelled him to proceed to an ATM to withdraw cash for them. The circumstances surrounding the alleged encounter and the amount of money involved are yet to be fully established.
In a statement issued on Wednesday evening, September 16, 2026, the Police Administration confirmed the interdiction of the seven officers as investigations into the matter get underway.
The administration said the officers had been interdicted to allow the **Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB)** to conduct its investigations without interference.
The Police Administration assured that the allegations would be thoroughly investigated and that appropriate action would be taken based on the outcome of the process.
