Ghana is set to make a bold push to expand its trade, tourism, and investment frontiers in Nigeria and beyond as the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), in collaboration with industry partners, rolls out the Ghana International Expo and Investment Forum.
The four-day event will take place from September 24 to 27, 2025, at Adeyemi Bero, Alausa Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria.
The Expo, themed “Unlocking Investment Potential Through Intra-African Trade and Tourism,” is designed to create a dynamic platform for Ghanaian businesses to engage with Nigerian and international counterparts, while positioning Ghana as a key investment and tourism destination in Africa.
Strengthening Economic Ties Through AfCFTA
According to organizers, the initiative is not only a showcase of Ghanaian enterprise but also part of efforts to consolidate the gains of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), whose secretariat is headquartered in Accra.
With AfCFTA opening new doors for intra-African trade, Ghana hopes to leverage its comparative advantages in agriculture, technology, creative arts, finance, and tourism to deepen partnerships, particularly with Nigeria, its largest trading partner in West Africa.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Expo, Maame Efua Houadjeto, emphasized the importance of the forum.
“This Expo is more than just a marketplace. It is a gateway for Ghanaian businesses to position themselves as global players, strengthen our economic ties with Nigeria, and open doors to new markets across Africa and beyond,” she said.
She added that the Ghana Tourism Authority sees the event as a strategic opportunity to promote Ghana not only as a business-friendly hub but also as a cultural and tourism destination.
Features
The Expo will combine business, investment, and cultural showcases. Highlights will include:
Business Exhibitions of Ghanaian goods and services ranging from agro-processing to technology solutions.
Investment Forums and Panel Discussions on trade policies, financing, and cross-border business opportunities.
Networking Sessions connecting Ghanaian and Nigerian entrepreneurs, policymakers, and investors.
Tourism and Cultural Showcase featuring Ghanaian fashion, music, and arts to strengthen cultural diplomacy.
Building On Past Efforts
The Ghana International Expo and Investment Forum is part of a growing list of initiatives aimed at promoting Ghanaian exports, diversifying the economy, and enhancing the country’s competitiveness on the global stage.
Past editions of trade promotion efforts have largely been centered in Ghana, but this year’s focus on Lagos signals a deliberate push to engage Nigeria’s massive consumer market and growing middle class.
The Expo is expected to attract participation from government officials, private sector leaders, trade associations, investors, and the diaspora community, making it a key platform for both business-to-business and government-to-business engagements.
