Hilda Baci Sets New Guinness World Record For Largest Pot Of Jollof Rice

Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has successfully cooked the largest pot of jollof rice, setting a new Guinness World Record.

The massive pot measured six meters wide and six meters tall, with a capacity of 22,619 liters.

Baci cooked approximately 200 bags of rice in about nine hours, feeding over 30,000 people at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.

The Record-Breaking Attempt

Despite a dramatic twist when the custom-built pot collapsed during the weighing process, Baci’s record attempt has been hailed as a success.

The incident occurred after a full day of successful cooking, and no casualties were reported.

The collapse has sparked speculation about whether the weighing was successfully completed, which is essential for Guinness certification.

Government Support

The Federal Government of Nigeria commended Baci for her effort, with Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris praising her achievement as a demonstration of Nigeria’s global excellence.

Idris expressed optimism that the record attempt would inspire a new generation of creatives and entrepreneurs.

Celebrating Nigerian Culture

The event, tagged ‘Gino World Jollof Festival’, was attended by thousands of fans, food vendors, and entertainers. Nigerian influencers and Nollywood stars, including Funke Akindele and Bamike Olawunmi-Adenibuyan, were among the notable attendees who supported Baci during the event.

The festival celebrated Nigerian food, music, and culture, showcasing the country’s rich heritage.

Baci’s Culinary Journey

Hilda Baci has been making waves in the culinary world with her record-breaking attempts.

In 2023, she set a Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
