Ghana’s diplomatic mission in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been thrown into mourning following the death of Sanni Jajah, the country’s Deputy Head of Mission and Deputy Ambassador in Riyadh.
Jajah died on Saturday, August 8, 2026, according to reports. The circumstances surrounding his death had not been made public at the time of reporting.
His passing represents a loss to the diplomatic representation in Saudi Arabia, where he served alongside Ghana’s Ambassador to the Kingdom, Alhaji Said Sinare.
As Deputy Head of Mission, Jajah occupied a key position within Ghana’s diplomatic establishment in Riyadh, supporting the work of the embassy and contributing to the management of relations between Ghana and Saudi Arabia.
His responsibilities also extended to matters involving Ghanaian nationals in the Kingdom, including support for Ghanaian pilgrims who travel to Saudi Arabia, particularly during the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
The Ghana-Saudi relationship has traditionally involved cooperation in areas including diplomacy, trade, investment, religious affairs and support for Ghanaian nationals resident or travelling in the Kingdom.
The diplomatic mission in Riyadh therefore plays an important role in maintaining these relations and addressing the needs of Ghanaian citizens.
Jajah’s role as Deputy Head of Mission placed him at the centre of these engagements, working with the Ambassador and other officials to advance the interests and provide consular and diplomatic support.
