Accra Hearts of Oak are edging closer to appointing Serbian coach Nebojša Kapor as their new head coach, with negotiations between the two parties reaching an advanced stage ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
The Phobians have been searching for a substantive coach following the departure of Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, whose tenure came to an end after the conclusion of the 2025/26 campaign.
Since then, the club’s management has been working behind the scenes to identify a coach capable of restoring Hearts of Oak to title contention.
Sources close to the negotiations indicate that discussions with Kapor have progressed positively, with only the final details of the agreement yet to be concluded.
Although speculation has linked the Serbian tactician with an imminent arrival in Ghana, reports suggest he has not yet travelled to the country.
Kapor is well known within Ghanaian football circles, having previously managed Tema Youth in the Division One League before taking charge of Medeama SC in the Ghana Premier League.
His previous experience in the local game and understanding of the Ghanaian football environment are believed to have made him the preferred candidate for the Hearts job.
The Hearts hierarchy sees the experienced coach as someone capable of rebuilding the team after an inconsistent 2025/26 season and leading the club back into contention for domestic honours.
His familiarity with the league is also expected to ease the transition should he take charge before the start of the new campaign.
Hearts of Oak, one of the most successful and decorated football clubs, have endured mixed fortunes in recent seasons despite winning the Ghana Premier League and MTN FA Cup double in 2020/21.
The club has since struggled to maintain consistency, leading to frequent changes in the technical department as management continues its search for long-term stability.
