Hearts of Oak have been hit by a major leadership change after Managing Director Julius Ben Emunah resigned from his position, bringing his eight-month tenure at the Ghanaian football giants to an abrupt end.
Emunah’s departure marks a significant development at the Phobians, particularly because it comes after a relatively short period in one of the club’s most important executive positions. His resignation leaves the club’s management structure facing a new transition as Hearts prepare to move forward with the next phase of their administration.
The club made a tremendous showing in their opening game in the Ghana Premier League beating Brekum Chelsea by 4-0 wit their new handler, Nebojsa Kapor.
In a message to the Hearts of Oak family, the outgoing Managing Director described his decision to step down as a difficult one but expressed gratitude to the club’s Board for giving him the opportunity to serve.
Emunah singled out Board Chairman Togbe Afede XIV for the trust and confidence placed in him during his time in office, describing his period at the club as a great honour and deeply rewarding experience.
He also acknowledged the support he received from the National Chapters Committee (NCC), led by Alhaji Yusif Abdulai, thanking the leadership and supporters for what he described as their “brotherly love” throughout his tenure.
Despite relinquishing his executive responsibilities, Emunah made it clear that his relationship with the club is not ending. He stressed that he would remain a Hearts of Oak supporter and would continue to make himself available to assist the club whenever his services are required.
“Although I am stepping down from my role, I am not stepping away from the club,” he said, signalling that his resignation should not be interpreted as a complete break from the Phobian family.
