The Ghana Police Service has dismantled a human trafficking network in the Volta Region, arresting seven suspected syndicate members and rescuing 48 victims during two intelligence-led operations conducted in Ho.
The arrests took place on January 8 and 10, 2026, at multiple locations, including Fiave Dablah Ayekple Street, Ho CK Road, and Somey Junction.
The suspects—identified as Emmanuel Asiamah, Frimpong Jerry, Paul Mensah, Bismark Perry, Vida Gefah, Ebenezer Kwabena Owusu, and Prince Kaku—are currently assisting the police with ongoing investigations into the syndicate’s operations.
The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that other individuals involved in the network remain at large, with efforts underway to bring them to justice.
The 48 victims rescued during the operations are largely young adults and students who were reportedly lured with promises of travel and employment opportunities overseas.
Once under the control of the syndicate, the victims were allegedly held under deceptive and coercive conditions.
Investigations revealed that the traffickers collected substantial sums of money from the victims under the guise of securing visas and travel documents.
Searches at the identified locations uncovered official-looking receipts issued to victims after payments were made, as well as various documents connected to other fraudulent activities linked to the syndicate.
Authorities noted that the sophistication of the operations indicates a well-organized network operating across multiple locations.
The Ghana Police Service has emphasized its commitment to protecting the public from human trafficking and other organized scams.
The Officers are currently working to trace the parents or relatives of the rescued victims and ensure their safety, while also pursuing additional arrests of syndicate members still at large.
