Ibrahim Fuseini Falls Short In Men’s 200m Heats At World Athletics Championships

Ghanaian sprinter Ibrahim Fuseini’s journey at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo came to a crushing end in the men’s 200 meters heats.

Ibrahim Fuseini, 22, finished sixth in his heat with a time of 20.66 seconds, narrowly behind South Africa’s Naeem Jack, who clocked 20.65 seconds to secure fifth place.

Competitive Heat

Ibrahim Fuseini was drawn into a highly competitive Heat 5, featuring some of the world’s top sprinters.

Jamaica’s Bryan Levell dominated the race, winning in 19.84 seconds, followed by Zimbabwe’s Makanakaishe Charamba (20.06 seconds) and Australia’s Gout Gout (20.23 seconds). All three athletes advanced to the semi-finals.

Debut Performance

Despite not advancing to the next round, Fuseini’s performance in his debut on the world stage was commendable.

He managed a sixth-place finish in a challenging field, showcasing his potential as a sprinter.
