Joy News Presenter, Kojo Brace Sets Ahanta West Abuzz With Walk With ‘Ahanta Pele’

Joy News presenter Samuel Kojo Brace, popularly known as “Ahanta Pele,” has triggered fresh speculation over a possible entry into partisan politics ahead of Ghana’s 2028 general elections, following a social media post that has been interpreted as a sign of an impending parliamentary bid.

The journalist, who is associated with the Multimedia Group Limited, shared an artwork on Facebook on Thursday, August 20, 2026, featuring the red, white and blue colours associated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The design immediately generated discussion among social media users, with some interpreting it as a campaign poster signalling his intention to contest the NPP parliamentary primaries in the Ahanta West Constituency in the Western Region.

Although Kojo Brace did not explicitly announce a parliamentary candidacy in the post, his subsequent response to a political figure has added fuel to the speculation.

The development took another turn when Richard Kirk-Mensah, the Western Regional Communications Officer of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), publicly suggested that the journalist should leave broadcasting if he had decided to pursue active politics.

“Samuel Kojo Brace since you have made a bold decision to do open politics you must vacate your position as a political host,” Kirk-Mensah wrote.

Kojo Brace’s response was cryptic but appeared to suggest that he may already have stepped away from his broadcasting duties.

He told Kirk-Mensah that he was “one intelligent young man who knows what time is best to undertake any endeavor” and questioned whether he could have made such a political move without first leaving his media role.

He further pointed to his absence from television during the week, asking whether that could mean he had already left.

“Senior man, you know me too well. Feel free to join the movement: AHANTA PELE,” he added.

That response has intensified questions about whether Kojo Brace has already made a decision regarding his future at Multimedia Group or is preparing to formally announce his political ambitions.

The broadcaster is launching a health walk tomorrow dubbed ‘Walk with Ahanta Pele’ with thousands of residents and love ones indicating their participation to unveil his political direction.
