The Ashanti Regional Police Command has interdicted a Police Inspector, Bright Appiah Dankwah, stationed at the Asuoyeboah Police Station in Kumasi, over his alleged involvement in a robbery attack targeting a mobile money vendor.
According to a statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command on Monday, May 11, the officer was arrested by the Regional Anti-Robbery Unit following what police described as intelligence-led operations.
Police said a search conducted at the suspect’s residence led to the retrieval of a Bruni Model 92 gas pistol, ammunition, and an amount of GH¢9,835 believed to be relevant to ongoing investigations.

The Police Service subsequently interdicted the officer pending the outcome of investigations into the alleged robbery case.
Bright Appiah Dankwah was arraigned before the Atasemanso Circuit Court on Monday, May 11, 2026, where he was remanded into police custody.
He is expected to reappear before the court on May 29, 2026.
The police say investigations are continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged attack and determine whether additional suspects may be involved.
