In a recent address, Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, praised the Akufo-Addo government for its efforts in transforming the Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL).
Speaking at the launch of GPCL’s 24-hour service, Felix Kwakye Ofosu commended the company’s management for the significant improvements made during the Akufo-Addo administration.
According to Kwakye Ofosu, his previous visits to GPCL revealed a stark contrast between the company’s current state and its past condition.
“When I came here previously, I must say that this place is not looking bad at all,” he said. “I dare say that I have seen measurable improvement, at least in the way that your premises look. In the past, it was not like that. This means that some progress has been made.”
Felix Kwakye Ofosu attributed the progress made by GPCL to the leadership of its former Managing Director, David Asante.
“In the last eight years, and I need to commend your previous management, and Mr. David Asante, who is your immediate past managing director, it shows that there is at least a foundation upon which the new management can build and introduce innovation and other ways of doing things,” he said.
Under David Asante’s leadership, GPCL underwent significant transformations, including the establishment of an IT Department, the introduction of a Call Centre and Delivery Service, and the acquisition of state-of-the-art machines and logistics.
These investments enabled GPCL to enhance its printing capabilities, deliver high-quality products and services, and increase its production capacity.
The Minister also acknowledged the company’s efforts to create more job opportunities through its 24-hour service.
“The introduction of the 24-hour service is in alignment with his excellency, the president’s vision for a 24-hour Economy in Ghana,” he said.
“By running this shift system, GPCL will be able to enhance service delivery, ensuring that government agencies, businesses, and individuals receive their materials on time.”
Felix Kwakye Ofosu’s comments highlight the significant progress made by GPCL during the Akufo-Addo administration.
The company’s transformation is a testament to the Akufo-Addo-led government’s efforts to revitalize state-owned enterprises and promote economic growth.
