Mahama Blows GHC2.7bn On 4 Agencies

In a shocking revelation, the 2025 budget has allocated a staggering GHC2.711 billion to compensate staff at the Office of the President, a significant increase from the GHC326.9 million allocated in 2024 during the Akufo-Addo presidency.

What is even more striking is that this massive capital injection is for only four agencies under the presidency, compared to eight agencies in 2024 as the current administration has scrapped some of the agencies under the office of government machinery.

To put this into perspective, the previous NPP administration had eight agencies under the presidency with a total budget of GHC326.9 million in 2024.

However, in just one year, the NDC administration has reduced the number of agencies to four, yet increased the budget to whopping GHC2.7 billion.

This massive allocation has raised eyebrows, with many questioning the justification for such a significant increase.

According to Finance Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson, the previous administration awarded contracts outside the expenditure framework and borrowed beyond Ghana’s capacity to repay.

However, this does not seem to have deterred the current administration from allocating a massive budget to the Office of the President.

The four agencies under the presidency that will benefit from this massive budget allocation are yet to be named.

However, the current administration is prioritizing the Office of the President, allocating a significant chunk of the national budget to it.
As the country grapples with economic challenges, many are left wondering if this allocation is justified.

Breakdown of the Allocation:

– Compensation of Staff at the Office of the President:
2024: GHC326.9 million
2025: GHC2.711 billion
– Number of Agencies under the Presidency:
– 2024: 8 agencies
– 2025: 4 agencies
