A political scandal is brewing in the Ashanti Region following explosive allegations made by a woman identified as Mary Agyapongmaa, who claims to be a coordinator for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Juaben Constituency.
In a viral video circulating on X (formerly Twitter) on November 3, 2025, Mary accused the Juaben NDC Constituency Chairman, known as Chairman Salifu, of exploiting her emotionally and sexually under the pretext of political and financial favors.
In a detailed account during an interview on Lawson TV, Mary recounted how her relationship with the party chairman began as far back as 2018, describing it as both romantic and transactional.
According to her, the chairman had promised to secure her a position on the government payroll in exchange for a sexual relationship.
She alleged that after multiple encounters, Chairman Salifu failed to fulfill his promises and eventually abandoned her after taking a new wife.
“I met the Juaben constituency chairman in 2018 and we decided to have a relationship,” Mary narrated.
“During our relationship, things were not going well, so we broke up. But after the election, he came to apologize and we started another relationship. He would sometimes call me late at night, around 9 p.m., and I would leave my children behind to visit him. After everything, he would give me GH₵250 or GH₵300, assuring me that he would include my name on the government payroll. I later heard that he has married a new wife and ignored me after his promise,” she lamented.
In the same interview, Mary also directed accusations at another man identified only as Ahmed, whom she claimed promised to open a shop (container business) for her during their relationship.
According to her, Ahmed has also failed to honour his commitment and has since married another woman.
“He doesn’t pick up my calls, and since he has married a different woman, he should compensate me,” she said.
“Ahmed also promised to open a container for me. Since he has ignored me, he should honor his promise and open the container as agreed.”
Meanwhile, an attempt to speak to the Constituency Chairman at press time was unsuccessful.
