The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially launched its nationwide internal reorganisation by releasing the timetable for its 2026 Constituency, Regional and National Executive Elections, a crucial exercise expected to reshape the party’s leadership structure ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The roadmap, approved by the party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC), outlines a comprehensive schedule for electing new executives at all levels of the party, beginning with constituency elections in September and culminating in the National Delegates Congress in December.
In a press statement dated August 5, 2026, and signed by Deputy General Secretary Barbara Serwaa Asamoah, the NDC announced that the Functional Executive Committee, at its meeting held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, directed the release of the official electoral calendar.
According to the timetable, the party’s constituency executive elections will be the first phase of the reorganisation.
Nominations will open from Tuesday, September 15, to Thursday, September 17, after which aspirants will file their nominations on September 23 and 24.
Vetting of candidates is scheduled for September 25 to 27, while appeals will be heard between September 29 and October 1. Voting to elect new constituency executives will take place on October 24 and 25, 2026.
Attention will then shift to the regional elections. Nominations for regional executive positions will open from October 6 to 7, followed by filing of nominations on October 14 and 15. Vetting is scheduled for October 16 and 17, while the Regional Youth and Women’s Conference will be held on November 13. Delegates will elect regional executives on November 14 and 15.
The final phase of the exercise will be the election of national officers. Nominations for national executive positions will open from October 20 to 21, with filing taking place between November 7 and 9. Vetting is scheduled for November 12 and 13, while appeals will be heard on November 15 and 16.
The National Youth and Women’s Conference will be held on December 12, before the party crowns the reorganisation process with its National Delegates Congress on Saturday, December 19, 2026, where national executives will be elected.
The NDC announced that all nominations will be processed electronically through its official online portal, forms.ghanandc.com, while applicants will also be required to submit hard copies of their nomination forms at the appropriate constituency, regional or national party offices.
The party described the roadmap as part of its commitment to conducting transparent, credible and well-organised internal elections in accordance with the provisions of its constitution.
It therefore urged all regional and constituency executives, prospective aspirants and party members to study the timetable carefully and comply strictly with every stage of the electoral process to ensure a smooth and successful reorganisation.
The NDC further expressed confidence that the internal elections would strengthen unity within the party and consolidate its structures as it prepares for the 2028 general elections.
